Finally I was able to find the time to edit my video of Sipar, the “sunken city” near Umag in Istria / Croatia.
According to archaeological reasearch, the area of Sipar was inhabited from the early iron age on. Later during the Roman times, it has developed into a “civitas”, which descibes a settlement with the characteristics of a andardly organised Roman town. Archeologic sources believe that Sipar has been destroyed around 876 CE in battles between the Duke Domagoj of Croatia and the Venetians.
After the destruction of Sipar, the town of Umag nearby was founded and developed to the city we see nowadays throughout the centuries.
The best time to visit the small leftovers of Sipar is definitely during low tide, so you will be able to walk the small half island and walk around in the ruins. There are still visible leftovers of the last archeological actions and you can find some interesting leftovers built into the first walls you find on the island.

The footage was filmed using a DJI Mini 2 and a Google Pixel 6 Pro. Editing has been fully done on a Microsoft Surface Go2/m3-version using Adobe Premiere Elements 2021.
